Year 6 Residential

Kingswood - Day 1

Our first full day at Kingwood has been an exciting one, the children have challenged themselves throughout the day and spent most of the day working at height! We have climbed, abseiled, took on the balance beam & practiced our archery skills!

"I felt very nervous when I was at the top of the abseiling wall but I conquered my fear of heights" - Jasmine

"I really enjoyed the balance beam because I liked the jump from the top" - Isla

" I liked the rock climbing because you had to figure out the best route to the top" - Alexis

"I liked the archery since I had I done it before, I used my skills to help my team win" - Sebastian

Kingswood - Day 2

Day 2 has seen both groups ride the 3G swing, follow the nightline and explore minibeasts. Team Waterfall (The Wollops) played aeroball while Team Page (The Paggeens) learned how to fence before we join together for a campfire this evening.

"I loved it, it was the best experience of my life" - Emilia on 3G swing

"The 3G swing was AMAZING. We didn't really enjoy being pulled up, but when the rope was released it was exhilarating" - Francis, Antonia and Millie

"We completed the nightline challenge. We had to be blindfolded and walk and obstacle course whilst connected to each other. We had to use our listening skills and give each other clear instructions." - Skyla, Lizzie and Abbie

Kingswood - Day 3

AM Update - Our groups are ready for another exciting day on the Isle of Wight. Both groups start the day by climbing the Jacobs Ladder, The Wallops will then be practicing their fencing skills while The Paggeens will be playing aeroball. Both groups will visit the beach before an afternoon of Orienteering & leap of faith. We will then visit the Culver monument as part of our nighttime walk.

Evening Update - On Thursday, all the children climbed Jacobs Ladder, working in pairs or threes to see how high they could climb. The Wallops then learned how to attack, defend and referee in games in fencing. The Paggeens had an entertaining time playing numerous games of Aeroball. Both groups joined together for the rest of the day, we had a visit to the local beach before lunch. After lunch, we completed the Orienteering challenge before taking the leap of faith! We had a night time walk to the Culver monument, it was wet and muddy but worth it for the stunning views.
