Childcare Provision for children of key workers and children with an EHCP and children with a social worker.
In order to maximise our resources and save unnecessary costs the Newbury Academy Trust Schools – Trinity, Fir Tree and Speenhamland will be offering provision at the Trinity School Site only. Speenhamland and Fir Tree Schools will be closed until further notice.
During this time of crisis we will be providing the following:
A room for primary school children staffed by a Primary school colleague for the children to complete the home learning work set.
A room for Secondary school children staffed by a Secondary school colleague for the children to complete the home learning work set on Firefly.
There is no provision for any teaching of children as we are following Government advice on this and social distancing, therefore staff will be working from home during this time unless they are on the supervision rota for the rooms as outlined above.
We will timetable the usual breaks in the day for playtime/breaktime and lunchtime. If your child is eligible for Free School Meals we have sent out a separate email about this provision. If your child is not eligible for Free School Meals please send them in with a packed lunch, drinks and snacks there are no catering facilities open on site and there will not be the facility to leave site to go and buy food. As the weather gets warmer it may also be a good idea to provide suncream for them to put on and a hat as we do go outdoors for breaks. If your child has medication e.g. inhaler or an EpiPen please let the member of staff know and ensure they always bring this with them.
We will be open from 8.30 -4.30pm
If you transport your child to school please drop and collect them from Trinity School Reception – checking them in with the staff on duty.
Some parents have asked if they can pick up during the day once they have finished their shifts - this is absolutely fine.
If your child will be absent from school please email email@example.com – stating the reason so we can track their attendance if they are then self-isolating.
We ask that all our community are acting with social responsibility and considering others. Please check the Government list carefully to see if you or your partner are key workers - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision
Government advice is:
“If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading”
The guidance goes on to say:
“the fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society”
“there is no requirement for parents and carers to send their children into school if they do not need or wish to”
If you can keep your children at home then please do so as this will allow us to provide supervision for those parents and carers who really need it and it will also minimise social contact as we have all been asked to do. We will need to keep this provision under daily review as the situation changes, in order to establish if it is safe to open our school for children and staff.
For any queries about our provision please email to firstname.lastname@example.org Please include your child’s name, tutor group/class and school.
