Dragon Club (Wrap Around Care)

At Speenhamland, we pride ourselves on the high-quality wrap around care we provide for our pupils. We appreciate that many parents have to work and consequently, are unable to drop-off and pick-up their children from school. Our Dragon Club provides excellent, affordable childcare outside the normal school hours. Breakfast Club is run between 7:30-8:30am and After School Club is run between 3:00-6:00pm. In addition, we also provide all-day sessions during the school holidays and we open on Inset Days if we have enough children requiring this.

Before School

Dragon Club opens at 7.30 daily and we provide breakfast if required. The children have a variety of activities to choose from including: board games, colouring, beads, Lego and various toys. Around 8.15, the children help tidy away their activities and get ready for their school day. Foundation children will be taken to their classrooms at 8.20.

After School

The After School Dragon Club runs from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm daily. Children are first welcomed with a drink and a snack, usually toast, bread, jams, pasta and fruit - last call for food is at 4.30 pm. Water is always freely available. The children can then choose from a range of exciting activities. When the weather is dry, we like to stay out as much as we can and utilise the school field, amazing adventure playground, mini gym and trim trail. In addition, the children can play football, cricket, rounders and other sports. Indoor activities include: various games, puzzles, colouring, painting, quizzes, pool, X-box, table tennis, movies, and we have use of the ICT Suite. On a Thursday, we have started running dance classes with one of our Play leader. During the afternoon session, staff are also on hand to support children with their homework activities.

Note: Pupils who attend extra-curricular activities clubs can have their snack once they arrive at Dragon Club.
